The 6th generation consoles

The sixth generation of consoles (also called “the 128-bit era”) began at the end of the 20th century. The first console of this generation was the Sega Dreamcast, launched in Japan on November 27, 1998, with the most commercially successful being Sony's Playstation 2, released in 2000. In the handheld arena, Nintendo's Game Boy Advance was the most successful.

All of the sixth-generation desktop consoles have ergonomic controllers, external memories, and, the most important difference, Internet and network connections for playing online or in a closed connection. It is in this generation that Sony Computer Entertainment launches its second video game console, while SEGA exits the industry with its last machine.
